Using Pinterest to reach your ideal client and grow your business with Erica Muddiman

There’s so much information out there on how to grow your audience using Instagram, Tik Tok and LinkedIn but not much when it comes to Pinterest. Pinterest is a fantastic tool you can use to reach new audiences, find your ideal client and grow your business.

My guest this week is Erica Muddiman. Erica is a Pinterest strategist specialising in organic and paid Pinterest growth strategies and implementation. Her mission is to help entrepreneurs grow and scale by implementing Pinterest strategies designed to increase website traffic, build your email list and funnel qualified leads straight to your inbox.

In this episode, we’re exploring how to use Pinterest to find your ideal client and grow your business. Erica founded Summit Virtual Solutions because she is passionate about working with clients to expand their reach and increase their revenue through Pinterest. She is the perfect person to guide you through this platform and show you how to take advantage of an amazing new strategy.

If you’re like me, you used to think Pinterest was just for looking up recipes, home decor tips, kid's bedrooms, and cakes. You couldn’t really see how it can be used to grow your business so you didn’t invest much time in it. Erica explains how Pinterest is transitioning away from a simple search and discovery platform to a place where people go to find new brands and products and integrates a new shopping platform.

We’re covering how to use Pinterest for service-based businesses, the benefits of Pinterest’s evergreen platform, how to use Idea Pins for maximum engagement, Erica’s current top trends on Pinterest, and how much time investment you need to generate growth.

If you want to learn more, Erica has created a mini-course Pinterest Plan On A Page where you can start taking advantage of this platform, then dive deeper and sign up for the waitlist for her comprehensive Pinterest Strategy Roadmap. I’m excited to share that I’ve been testing Erica’s strategy and her concepts around Idea Pins and my Pinterest analytics show a 680% increase in the last two weeks!

Come back to this episode again and again as you need to and start using Pinterest for your business today!

Topics We Covered:

[2:50]: Pinterest has evolved since it first launched, especially in the last 5 years. There are many businesses using Pinterest to drive growth, drive traffic to their website, grow their email list and produce sales.

[5:42]: 95% of searches on Pinterest are unbranded. It provides a great opportunity for small businesses to be discovered.

[7:30]: Service-based businesses can connect their content with their Pinterest traffic and create a funnel. Get in front of your ideal customer to get them to your website and on your email list so that when they’re ready to buy they know your business well.

[9:25]: Erica’s favourite thing about Pinterest is that it’s an evergreen platform. Your content and products you share will last forever until you manually take them down.

[11:22]: The top trend for service-based businesses using Pinterest is Idea Pins. There are 5 pin types on Pinterest and an Idea Pin is similar to an Instagram story but it doesn’t go away after 24 hours and continues to grow over time.

[13:05]: Another trend is the shop aspect where Pinterest has the ability to connect a shop.

[14:03]: You can repurpose your Instagram stories for Pinterest Idea Pins. When you use video in your Idea Pin, it goes even further.

[16:25]: The more engagement your content has, the more it’s going to be shown.

[18:14]: If you’re just starting out with Pinterest, the key is consistency. As long as you’re consistent you’re teaching Pinterest that you’re constantly pinning within your schedule. It should not take longer than 5 hours per month to implement a well-thought-out Pinterest plan.

[19:46]: Go back and look at how much time you’ve spent on Instagram per day in the last week and check whether it’s actually driving traffic to your website.

[21:32]: Videos of your product/service or you talking about your product/service are very favourable for Pinterest (in the Idea Pin format).

[23:08]: Depending on how much time you have to spend, Idea Pins are a great place to start to get the most out of your time. Pinterest just announced that Idea Pins will be linkable to your website very soon.

[26:32]: Erica shares how we can learn from her. Her mini course Pinterest Plan On A Page makes getting started with Pinterest easy. Her new course coming soon is all about the strategy behind Pinterest - join the waitlist here!

[28:51]: Where to find and connect with Erica.

[29:54]: It’s really beneficial to spend your time wisely on Pinterest. Create content that is searchable for your ideal client and save time by not engaging with your audience.

[30:32]: I’ve been testing Erica’s strategy and her concepts around Idea Pins. My Pinterest analytics have shown over a 680% increase in the two weeks since I started taking Erica’s advice!
