Ending eras and embracing new chapters

I have some exciting news to share with you today and it’s likely something completely unexpected. I’ve recently made a huge decision in my business which will enable me to really focus on my goals and vision for the future. So today I’m sharing 4 powerful insights from my decision-making process that I know will inspire you on your own entrepreneurial journey.

The first point I want to bring home is the importance of making courageous decisions. It’s not just okay, it’s necessary. When you have a bold vision, you’re taking the road less travelled, which often means facing judgment and criticism from others. But as a business owner, it's vital to trust your intuition and stay true to your unique vision and goals. By embracing and making bold decisions, you pave the way for extraordinary growth and success.

One of the most powerful lessons you can learn is the importance of letting go of what others think about you, your life and your business. Judgment is inevitable but temporary, yet holding onto the fear of judgment can hinder your progress and prevent you from reaching your full potential. By embracing your desires and focusing on your own goals, you will be empowered to make decisions that align with your vision and values.

We’ve all heard the saying, “what got you here won't necessarily get you there”. As entrepreneurs, it's essential to continuously evolve and adapt to new challenges and opportunities. In this episode, I talk about being discerning with your time and focusing on new actions and perspectives so that you can achieve remarkable growth. Don't be afraid to leave behind what no longer serves you and embrace new ways of doing things.

Lastly, stop forcing things that don't align with your vision and values. If a particular strategy or approach feels forced or incongruent in your business, it’s time to reevaluate and make some changes. Life and business are in a constant state of ebb and flow and by listening to your intuition and desires, you create more space for authentic growth and meaningful results. Trust in the process and be open to new possibilities.

Remember, 2024 can be anything you want it to be. I hope this episode inspires you to make it happen.

Topics We Covered:

[00:00:00] Kristy: Hello boss, and welcome back to the run your business like a boss podcast. Today's episode is a different one. And what I'm about to share with you may be completely unexpected.

[00:00:14] I'm going to share the news upfront, but there's so much that I want to cover in this episode that can support you with your business. So I hope you stick around all the way through this conversation. So first and foremost, like you, I spent time over the holidays going inward, reflecting on where I've been, where I'm going, resetting my goals and setting my intention, vision, and focus for the year ahead.

[00:00:46] And this has meant that I have had to spend time understanding the reassignment of my energy and capacity this year to support my vision for 2024. With that said, I want to let, you know, that as a result of this, you will be hearing from me less this year. The run your business like a boss podcast has been a weekly show since we first started was since I first started rather, which was two and a half years ago.

[00:01:23] I can hardly believe that it has already been two and a half years, but it has. And I've been producing weekly shows with the exception of a few short breaks during this time. And I'm so proud of this podcast. I'm so proud of the impact that I get to create through this platform. I'm so proud of how it's grown how it's developed.

[00:01:49] And. The way that I've been able to share with you content that can impact and support you to build a business that is also supporting the life that you wish to live. And it's interesting, you know, because I actually thought coming to this decision would be so tough and it actually hasn't. And the reason for this is because I, one, have never felt the need to conform to industry standards and the rules that are set by others.

[00:02:28] And two, I am so clear on the vision that I have for this year, as well as who I need to be and what I need to do to achieve that vision. And if you haven't had a chance to do so, I cover so much of this in the planning series, the past three episodes. So if you haven't dived into those episodes and into the work, then I encourage you to do that, but I'm so clear.

[00:02:52] I'm so clear on. What I need to deliver this year and as a result of that, I needed to free up my in particular creative capacity for this work and that is why this decision has been so certain for me, because when you are in the knowing of where you want to be, it's so much easier to be certain about the decisions you need to make and the actions you need to take.

[00:03:20] So. The reason why I wanted you to stick around for this episode is because I wanted to bring this back to you. What are the lessons that I would encourage you to take away from this experience for you to put into application for your business and also into your life? The first one is that it is not only okay, but it is necessary to make courageous and out of the box decisions.

[00:03:50]  And this can feel sticky and it can feel hard, especially so when you share this with others and they don't understand it. This is the reality of having a bold vision is that you have that vision. You are the person who has the 360 view. You can, you can see all of the elements. You see how it fits together, how you're going to get there, what it's all about, how it fits in with your life.

[00:04:22] All of those things and a bystander or an observer will only ever see a portion of that. They can only ever see that through A, their own lens and B, through what you share with them. They can't see the vision in the same way that you do. And as a result of that, you may receive guidance or you may receive a perspective from someone else that is based upon a very narrow view of what it is that you're looking to achieve, which is why it is so important for you to be courageous, for you to make those out of box decisions because nobody else is going to do that but you.

[00:05:03] And the reason why it's courageous is because you don't always know how it's going to work out. And that's the thing when you go bigger and bolder with your vision is that there may not have been someone who's been before you, or you may not know someone who's been before you. So you've got to back yourself to take that big step forward.

[00:05:24] Lesson number two is to let go of what others think about you. I've mentioned on the podcast before that the greatest piece of advice that I have ever received was from my mom when I was a teenager and she said, what other people think about you Kristy is none of your business.

[00:05:44] that piece of advice I have carried with me for decades, and it's been so important because one truth and one reality that we all experience is judgment. You will be judged. You will be judged if you do that, or if you do this. You will be judged on what you do, how you act, what you're working towards, all the things.

[00:06:13] But this is also true is that you will be judged for a moment of time. That judgment that someone else will think about, they'll think about it in a fleeting thought. They may say it to somebody else, but then they move on with their life. And if you make decisions for fear of that judgment, then you miss out on the thing that you're working towards.

[00:06:36] And that judgment was just a fleeting thought or a moment in time for that person that actually has no real impact on them. So when you become empowered and you let go of the judgment and you know that it's going to happen, but you don't let that impact or influence the decisions and actions that you take, then you will be truly empowered to move forward in a way that feels right and in alignment with where you're taking your business. Cause remember, just like I said, a moment ago, you see the full vision. That person certainly doesn't. And in addition, their judgment comes from their own experiences, their own fears, their own lens, their own filter, their own desires, right?

[00:07:24] That all of that is wrapped up with their judgment actually has nothing to do with you. So lesson number two is to let go of the judgment and focus on who you need to be and the actions that you need to take to get to the vision that you're looking to achieve.

[00:07:40] Lesson number three is about growing forward. And. I want to share with you a quote that I know you will have heard, but what I want you to do is just to stop. Okay? If you're driving, I want you to bring your attention back to me. If you're walking, I want you to really listen deeply to what I'm about to say, because you will have heard this so many times, but I want you to hear this differently today.

[00:08:08] I want you to really listen to what I'm saying. What got you here is not what's going to get you there. And We as entrepreneurs, as business owners, as founders, as human beings are growing forward. I know that there was a time when things felt really hard. You could barely even imagine having the business that you have today. Like that felt so far away from where you were. And it had to take. New action, new perspective, new drive, new lessons, new skills, new embodiment to get to this point. And there will be a juncture where you're ready for that next thing. It might not be this year.

[00:08:55] And in fact, this might be something that just ends up getting parked for you. And, this makes sense later on, but if you are at that juncture this year, where you know that you're ready for something different, then you have to take new action. You have to be discerning in where you apply your time, what you're doing, get really focused on what you're working on because time is so precious.

[00:09:18] And if you get bogged down in doing what you've always done, you're just going to get the same results.

[00:09:23] This comes back to growing forward and it's okay to go, Hey, you know what, that thing that was so big and is making an impact and, and it's such a joy to do, or I love working with that person or that program, but it just no longer fits, right? Like, this is for you, of course, I'm talking in reference to the podcast, but you might say.

[00:09:50] It no longer works to do that for me moving forward. And so I need to do things differently and I need to take different action and I need to spend my time in new ways to be able to move forward. So as you were taking action. And setting that vision for 2024 and thinking about who you need to be and the action that you need to take.

[00:10:12] Have you made room for that? Have you figured out what got you to this point may not get you to there and really stood behind that decision and shifted and changed and move things around to take the action that you need to take to move forward? Because like I said, you will have heard that quote, what got you here won't get you there so many times, but in this very moment, you and I together, sitting here together, talking one to one, really think about what those words mean and deeply think about how you intend on applying it in your business, or it might be a life goal or who you want to be as a mom or who you want to be as a spouse or a partner or a daughter or a friend or whatever that is. What new action, what new embodiment, what new values, what new things do you need to do to make that happen? And lesson number four is if you have to force something, if something is like, Oh, just coming back to that previous point, you just keep doing the thing and it just feels forced and it doesn't feel congruent with where you're moving toward. So your future, you, your vision of your business, the vision for your life or whatever that might be, stop forcing it. Start making those decisions and lean into that and do the work that you need to do.

[00:11:42] Make the changes that you need to make and listen to yourself, listen to your desires because 2024 can be anything that you want it to be. It doesn't have to be your biggest and best year yet or it could be. That's up to you. So stop forcing what you've always done and start sitting in the work that needs to take place to actually get the results that you want to get this year.

[00:12:12] Whether that's in your health or in your business or in your life or your relationships or whatever that is. I can't tell you what it is because I don't know what that is for you, but you will know. So that's four very powerful lessons that are all wrapped up in just making the decisions Shift to the way that I'm operating in this podcast.

[00:12:33] So bringing it back to the podcast, what does this mean for the show? Number one, please stay following the show, stay subscribed, keep it in your feed because whilst I won't be creating episodes every week, I will be creating episodes as I feel called to share content or feel the pull to share a topic or something that I know you need to hear, or that's sitting on my heart.

[00:13:00] So, stay Following the show, even if it's not a weekly show, what I will be putting out there, I know will have impact for you and will support you.

[00:13:10] I also wanted to say that whether you're an OG listener from the get go, from mid 2021, oh my gosh, how long ago does 2021 feel like? It's like this dichotomy of the sense that it feels like such a long time ago, but it also kind of feels like last year as well. Anyway, whether you've been listening since 2021 or whether you just started listening in recent times, thank you.

[00:13:40] Thank you for investing your time in listening to this and I hope that you have taken what you hear on the podcast and you figure out what that means for you and you put that into action because awareness where it all starts, but you taking that and applying it and figuring out where that fits in for you and your business is actually what yields the results.

[00:14:07] This has been such a wild ride and I appreciate you being along for the journey. I'd love to hear from you. I'd love to know in what ways the show has impacted you so post your Instagram stories, share a post, share something so that I can see it with letting me know how the run your business like a boss podcast has positively impacted your business or maybe even your life or who you are as a person that would just quite literally make my day. and I also wanted to say thank you to every guest.
