Defining your personal style as a Business Owner with Kerrie Carucci

How many times have you stared into your wardrobe and had no clue what to wear?

It can be a minefield trying to work out what style will market us as business owners whilst allowing us to feel confident, comfortable and unique.

In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Kerrie Carucci, one of Australia’s leading fashion stylists. Her breadth of work spans across personal and editorial styling, creative directing, content creation, hosting masterclasses online and locally, and has recently launched her online styling platform ‘Your Pocket Stylist’.

Kerrie shares the importance of creating an initial impact that connects with your clients. Recent studies have shown that it now only takes people 1/10th of a second to make a first impression. Kerrie walks us through how to create our own unique personal style as a business owner and how it should reflect us as individuals.

Your Pocket Stylist guides you to make great online purchasing decisions for your body shape and lifestyle and takes away any guesswork. It’s an amazing tool to have in your toolkit to ensure you feel amazing and confident in your clothes every day.

Kerrie is passionate about helping her clients align their visual representation with their personal and professional goals. She shares her biggest business lessons and the benefits of working with a business coach that have helped her to grow.

I know you’re going to get tons of value from this conversation. Enjoy!

Topics We Covered:

[2:24]: Kerrie shares how she has always loved fashion and talks about how it’s a huge part of who she is today. Her mum is a fashion designer and has her own label. Kerrie talks about learning from her mum and the bond they had collaborating together.

[4:25]: Your personal style is the first visual element people connect with. Your personal brand is your own walking talking business card.

[5:42]: Social media is often image first, content second. Recent studies show that the time it takes to make a first impression has reduced to 1/10th of a second.

[7:01]: It’s like creating a book cover of a best selling novel. Give your clients a preframe of what they’re moving into when they work with you or buy your product.

[8:23]: Your personal style should be a reflection of you as an individual. Kerrie curates this for her clients through colour psychology and pulling apart everything her client feels incredible in.

[10:17]: Show up as the person you want to be, even before you feel you’re there.

[11:27]: We all have individual modalities. Kerrie doesn’t think that everyone needs to have a uniform but more so a style formula. It has been curated for you so you know exactly what to pull out of the cupboard when you’re short on time.

[14:17]: Pink Sparrow is an Instagram Reels coach and in every single one of her videos she’s wearing a pink blazer.

[15:09]: Studies have shown the majority of people will wear 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time.

[16:32]: Is there a level of consistency with the at-home content you’re creating? Have items that are comfortable, fit well, and are of great quality.

[18:36]: In 2022, there is a large emphasis on bold colours and dopamine dressing. It’s not really about following trends, it’s about identifying your style just for you.

[21:17]: It can be confusing for the audience if your look is constantly changing.

[24:08]: Business owners are very time-poor. Your Pocket Stylist allows you to access Kerrie’s advice at anytime, anywhere. It guides you to make great online purchasing decisions for your body shape and takes away any guesswork.

[27:39]: Kerrie shares her biggest business lessons. Stay true to your passion. Show up and find new ways to connect.

[28:37]: Kerrie was very against TikTok when it was released but due to lockdown she started creating TikToks and found people were drawn to the fun stylish content. There are always new ways to connect with your audience.

[30:49]: I’m very privileged to be Kerrie’s business coach. Kerrie shares the biggest advantages to having a business coach. It’s been very helpful to have someone in your corner with an expert point of view and has allowed her to unpack things further.

[34:39]: Where to find Kerrie.
