Is overworking hurting you and your business?
Are you working on your business around the clock? Are you finding it hard to separate your business and your personal life? Being caught in the hustle cycle can limit your potential, your success, and create imbalance in your life.
In this episode, I discuss how overworking and spending all of your time and effort in your business can actually have the reverse effect and negatively impact your business’ growth - not to mention your mental wellbeing!
I encourage you to reflect on your own version of success and visualise how that feels. Be deliberate in your actions in your business by not over committing yourself and focusing on the work that really matters.
Topics We Covered:
[01:20]: The greatest change and impact begins with self awareness!
[01:55]: I talk about ‘hustle culture’. How it undermines your potential and success and fuels the belief that you are not a real business owner unless you are working around the clock.
[03:14]: We are bombarded with messages that success lies within the 1%. How is it success to work extremely long hours every day and neglect the other areas in our life?
[04:20]: I spoke about how I took a sabbatical from all work to help my eldest child settle into school. This led me to re-evaluate my idea of success.
[04:56]: The book ‘Thrive’ by Ariana Huffington changed my life!
[06:07]: I reflect on what I wanted to accomplish with my life. This included; have good relationships, be there for my kids, have balance, and not prioritise work above the people that I love.
[06:43]: Take a step back and reflect on your life - amazing results will come from this fresh perspective.
[06:53]: Move past ‘hustle culture’ by having less conversations about productivity and more conversations about being effective. Doing more of the right things!
[07:14]: Be deliberate in how you run your business.
[07:40]: I highlight four impacts that overworking in your business will cause: 1. You will miss opportunities, 2. It’s not sustainable, 3. You will make mistakes, 4. Your growth will be limited.
[09:07]: Reflect on what a sustainable business looks like for you?
